Meet Karen

Welcome! Please read, click, browse … this is a place to learn how to strengthen your co-parenting relationship and family life. Karen has retired from direct services for parents as of 12/20/24. That said, there’s valuable information across the next many pages. Please explore.

Karen’s books, podcasts, blog posts help answer the question, “What’s best for kids?” …and build a firm foundation as you restructure your family. Parents receive guidance for how to keep kids central and parenting strong – even under difficult circumstances. Karen has culled her knowledge and skills from 40 years as a psychotherapist / psychiatric nurse practitioner to inform her guidance for parents and families in transition. Whether you are a parent considering separation/divorce or a parent starting to date again or considering stepfamily, there’s much here for you.

For professionals, if you’re a representative of a group, organization or law firm seeking advanced training – forward-thinking methodologies and skills, you are welcome to contact Karen for her availability. Karen’s day-long signature trainings are now re-packaged by two competent trainers: Tim Peterson and Heather Harman. Please reach out to them directly for their current training schedule.

Karen’s Books

“There’s these teaching stories, these practices, these protocols that I share with parents anticipating separation and divorce two people at a time in my office. A voice in my head simply said, ‘You should write them down.’ And I thought if I write them down, I could get them out, I could share them with anyone who could use them. And then I thought ‘why wouldn’t I?’ …getting them to parents would certainly be the prayer of my heart.”
