Mentoring for Professionals

Please join Karen for Mentoring Groups (90-minutes of case consultation) and/or Practicum Intensives (six hours of Open Space-style collaboration) offered on a regular schedule. Open to all attorneys, mediators/neutrals, coaches and mental health professionals.  Common ground: We’re all working with families facing separation, divorce, parents who struggle with kiddos or co-parenting disputes, and those emerging into stepfamily.  Colleagues come together to unpack difficult cases, discuss practice tips, share resources, build skills and strengthen competence in a wide range of approaches to typical and complex problems. Karen guides, challenges and facilitates spirited conversations offering creative/sound approaches to tough situations. Dedicated time with trusted colleagues refreshes the spirit and expands your network! Find out more – contact Karen.

If you would like a one-on-one case consultation: Stuck on how to help parents design a parenting-time schedule? Want to explore options on how to approach a complex client situation? Stuck in impasse with a complicated mediation? Email – let’s schedule.

If you’re seeking a non-evaluative professional view / “second opinion” in the areas of child development, family restructuring, parenting-time schedules and so forth on a case, talk with Karen.

Interest in having your group sponsor a training? Let’s talk!

In my 30 years of legal practice, I have taken many seminars. Not one of those seminars has even come close to providing me with the high level of professional and personal satisfaction that I received from this experience.

John H. McGilliard,JD, Crawford, McGilliard, Peterson & Yelish, Port Orchard, WA.

[Karen’s] material is thoughtful and generous – and cutting edge in its appreciation of the newest evidence-based understanding of child and family development. And she listens! Zoom is not always the easiest format but I felt no loss of connection…

John Connell Osborne, MSW, MPH, Collaborative Professionals of East Bay, Berkeley, CA.

Karen is an exceptional and dynamic trainer; she is engaging and inspiring and she definitely understands how to encourage group participation, keep on track and transfer knowledge…always leave Karen’s trainings feeling inspired and more knowledgeable.

Debra Synovec, JD, CPA, CDFA, Mediator, Seattle

Karen is hands-down the most skilled divorce coach that I have ever worked with. I respect her immensely and continue to be consistently impressed by her depth of knowledge and skill every time we work together.

Justin Sedell, JD, Principal at Lasher, Holzapfel, Sperry, Ellison, Seattle.

Guest Lectures/Interviews/Podcasts

Contact Karen – she loves to share with podcasters and journalists. She is available to bring her teaching into the classroom – to introduce the psycho-social aspects of “the family” into family law/mediation course work – whether that be something such as designing developmentally appropriate parenting plans or envisioning creative solutions to complex family problems. If you’d like a guest presenter, let Karen know.
